Although they are specialists in weaving leather, they are also expert straw and rattan basket bag makers which include detailed crocheting rafia as embellishment. Other techniques such as embroidery and macramé are also available from these Florentine designer artisans.

The brand was established in 2006 by Fabrizio and Roberto Pancani who had spent 20 years learning their craft with the family straw basket business. Desperately wanting to realise their own aspirations, they decided to create Roberto Pancani Firenze. They now supply high end fashion bags to the upmarket boutiques of Florence, Venice and Verona.

Weaving leather has been around for a very long time but it was the Italian brand Bottega Veneta that made it so very popular back in the 1960's. Not only is it very attractive, it provides you with a handbag that is both very supple and lightweight. The leather Pancani use is sheep's leather, chosen for its soft pliable qualities, which has been vegetable tanned in one of the local tanneries with no chemicals being used. Each piece of sheep's leather has its own characteristics and markings make each bag unique. Although they produce a wide range of styles, we are initially focusing on slouchy hobo style shoulder bags.
