Look The Part At The Races And The Cheltenham Festival

It is now just under a month before one of the biggest horse racing festivals in the racing calendar, the Cheltenham Festival and the prestigious Gold Cup. This is no Royal Ascot with morning suits, heels and elaborate designer hats posing to be seen, this is for the more hardy race goer. It's also the first major race of the season and is of course very popular venue for the horse racing enthusiast with the added extra of St Patrick's day celebrations which usually falls within the meeting, making it very popular with Irish visitors.

The Cheltenham Festival originated in 1860 and it now features several Grade 1 races that includes the Cheltenham Gold Cup, Champion hurdle, Queen Mother's Champion Chase and Stayers' Hurdle and is held over 4 days at the Cheltenham Racecourse in Gloucestershire. Interestingly race prize money is only second to the Grand National and large amounts of money is gambled in bets over the week. Cheltenham is noted for its atmosphere and the Cheltenham roar, the noise the crowd generates as the starter raises the tape for the first race of the meeting.

The dress code is far more relaxed than Ascot but do bear in mind that in March the weather can be very cold with wintery conditions and strong winds, so dress appropriately which includes footwear. There is nothing worse than trying to walk in any type of heeled boots on sodden grass. A suit though is required for gentlemen in the Club enclosures and restaurants and smart attire for the ladies.

The country look is very popular many race goers and the addition of Tweed cloth lends itself to hats, clothes and accessories. At Attavanti we have the perfect accessory for your warm, smart race outfit. The Bonfanti Italian designer shoulder bags handmade in authentic Scottish, Harris Tweed  and finished with luxury leather trims and buckles encompass this style totally.
